SLC joins registry to track greenhouse gas emissions

Utah's capital joins 39 states, five Canadian provinces, three American Indian tribes, two Mexican states and Washington, D.C., as founders of the organization.

"Climate change is one of those issues that transcends municipal boundaries and deeply affects our quality of life and existence," Mayor Ralph Becker said. "I commend the efforts of everyone involved in the Climate Registry and hope Salt Lake City and the state of Utah will serve as a model for the region and the country."

Salt Lake City has joined The Climate Registry, a Washington-based nonprofit established to measure and publicly report greenhouse-gas emissions in a common, accurate and transparent manner consistent across industry sectors and borders.
