Along with Salt Lake City's new mayor, two new City Council members took office Monday. Luke Garrott, a political-science professor at the University of Utah who ousted District 4's Nancy Saxton in November, momentarily forgot to snag his seat on the council after taking the oath. "The best public servants in democracy, we know we're just passing through," he said in his earlier remarks. J.T. Martin, owner of Emigration Market, took outgoing District 6 Councilman Dave Buhler's seat after being sworn in. Council Chairman Van Turner, who won a third term in District 2, also took the oath.
