Salt Lake Center for Science Education, a new charter school sponsored by the Salt Lake City School District, is accepting applications for fall 2008.

The school, which will be in the building formerly occupied by Northwest Middle School at 1400 W. Goodwin Ave., will serve students in grades six through nine with an emphasis on science education, teacher Nicki Hack said. The Utah Museum of Natural History, Leonardo on Wheels and other science programs will participate in educational programs at the school.

Sixty students will be enrolled in each grade. For more information, visit www.slc.k12.ut.us/sites/slcse.
