Should the airport TRAX line stretch across 600 West or 400 West? Salt Lake City officials are hosting an open house tonight at the Utah State Fairpark to address the question and present details for both alignment options.

The public is invited to the meeting, which will include a question-and-answer period, to hear the pros and cons about the routes. Residents also may query representatives from Utah Transit Authority, who will supply maps and graphics.

Many west-siders oppose the 600 West option, fearing it will lower property values, invite crime and further box in the community.

Transportation officials want the TRAX line to link Salt Lake City International Airport to the downtown transit hub on 200 South. The open house is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bonneville Building, 155 N. 1000 West. - Derek P. Jensen
