State Senate President John Valentine Tuesday filed the paperwork necessary to include Republican Mitt Romney in Utah's presidential primary election in February.

Valentine presented the Lieutenant Governor's Office with a $500 check from the Romney campaign and a notarized letter naming Valentine as Romney's official representatives

"Gov. Romney is now an official candidate in Utah," Valentine said.

Democrat John Edwards filed last week and Republican John McCain will file next week, said Joe Demma, chief of staff for the Lieutenant Governor.

All candidates must file by Oct. 15.
