Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will make her first visit to Utah next month for a fundraiser and private reception in Park City.

"We're very excited about it," said former Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Corradini. She said it is significant ''as the reddest state, to have these Democratic candidates feel we're important enough to come out.''

Recent polls show the former first lady and New York senator continues to lead the Democratic primary field, with a considerable lead over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards.

On Oct. 23, Clinton is scheduled to attend a $500-a-plate lunch at the home of Barry and Amy Baker in the Glenwild community near Park City, and a $2,300-per-person private reception.

Barry Baker is a managing director in Boston Ventures, a major venture capital firm based in Massachusetts.

Organizers are still trying to arrange a public event in Salt Lake City sometime during her stop, but it hasn't been confirmed, said Corradini, who is co-chairing the event.

Clinton had raised $64,260 in the state through the end of June, according to her most recent filing with the Federal Election Commission. It will be her first visit to the state during the campaign.

She would be the ninth presidential candidate to visit Utah, the fifth Democrat.

Corradini and former Utah Democratic Party Chairman Donald Dunn are co-chairing the event.
