Posted: 7:50 AM- LOGAN - When Cache County rancher Joe Fuhriman heard about how the Milford Flat fire had blackened critical grasslands, he decided to help the cattlemen affected.
And what those beleaguered ranchers needed most was hay.
The Herald Journal newspaper reports today that the 300,000-acre July blaze in Beaver and Millard counties not only killed hundreds of cows - it left ranchers without feed for the surviving herds.
Fuhriman, president of the Cache Cattleman's Association, told the Herald Journal that he plans to send a ton of his own hay to Milford. He is also collecting donations of hay from Cache and Rich county farmers.
Fuhriman's goal is to receive at least 100 tons and ship the feed in September or October. Trucking services and fuel costs will also be donated.
