SOUTH SALT LAKE - The City Council chose Wednesday to postpone taking further action to amend an interlocal agreement with Holladay and Salt Lake County, which would put the formation of a new small school district on November's ballot.
Their decision was based on recent developments and pending discussion of the issue at 1:30 p.m. today by the County Council.
"It looks unlikely that they'll approve the Granite split [Thursday]," City Attorney Dave Carlson told South Salt Lake council members Wednesday. "It will likely have to wait until 2008." "Everything's on hold right now," Carlson said. But, he added, the County Council could surprise him today and vote differently than what he anticipates.
"Who knows - stranger things have happened," he said.
The County Council also might take no action.
