Posted: 8:48 AM- LINDON - The Lindon City Council has revoked the business license of a biodiesel company, declaring its operation unsafe.

The Daily Herald newspaper reports today that the Indian Oil Co. makes alternative fuels from used plant and animal oils. The company maintains that biodiesel burns cleaner than traditional diesel, while selling for about the same price as normal diesel.

The plant was the first of its kind in Utah, opening its biodiesel production in 2006.

However, it had ceased operation in May because of safety concerns acknowledged by its own board of directors.

The Daily Herald reports that Indian Oil did not have representation at the Lindon Council meeting - and efforts to reach the company were not successful.
