Early primary polling begins

Early voting has begun in Salt Lake Valley cities in advance of the Sept. 11 primary. The Salt Lake County Clerk's Office is handling voting for Bluffdale, Draper, Herriman, Holladay, Midvale, Riverton, Salt Lake City, West Jordan and West Valley City.

All eligible residents may vote weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the County Clerk's Office, 2001 S. State St., South Building, Room S1002, or in their respective city offices. Bring a valid photo identification or two forms that prove residency.

Other early-voting locales:

Bluffdale: 14350 S. 2200 West.

Draper: 1020 E. Pioneer Road (12400 South).

Herriman: 13011 S. Pioneer St. (6000 West).

Holladay: 4580 S. 2300 East.

Midvale: 655 W. Center St.

Riverton: 12830 S. 1700 West.

Salt Lake City: 451 S. State, No. 138.

West Jordan: 8000 S. Redwood Road.

West Valley City: 3600 S. Constitution Blvd. (2700 West).

In West Valley City, voting is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sept. 7 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

City Manager Wayne Pyle was the first to cast his ballot Monday.

"It was easy and convenient, and I encourage anyone who anticipates not making it to the polls on Sept. 11 to vote early," Pyle said in a statement.

West Valley City will host a Meet the Candidates Night on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. in City Hall. There are 13 candidates running for three City Council seats.
