Basking in the soulful baritone of musician Greg Brown, Rocky Anderson regaled well-wishers Tuesday as he stood in the center of the Gallivan Plaza bridge.

Having just addressed the Teva and cargo-shorts crowd for "Utah Wilderness Day" - a celebration honoring the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance's 25th anniversary - the Salt Lake City mayor's spirits seemed high.

Then came the bust.

Just minutes after Rocky's screed, er, speech, a rent-a-cop had him by the wri t, clearly disturbing the peace.

Rocky's crime: He was gripping a Squatters microbrew - without a wristband.

The mayor took it in stride - he was quickly cuffed with a green paper band and allowed to keep his beer - but left the event shortly after.

Perhaps the contract cop was a Republican. After all, Rocky's conservation-themed speech quickly devolved into denunciations of both President Bush and the Utah Legislature.
