LOGAN, Utah - A northern Utah fundraiser drew more than 200 supporters and raised more than $200,000 for Republican presidential nomination candidate Mitt Romney.

Romney made a campaign swing through Utah Saturday, also making stops in Salt Lake City and Deer Valley, where he has a vacation home.

One of Utah's favorite adopted sons, Romney topped the Republican candidates in fundraising during the first quarter of 2007 with $21 million.

Guests paid $1,000 a plate for Saturday's luncheon at the home of Jim Laub, president of Cache Valley Electric. Lunch and a photo with the candidate cost $2,300.

''I've got good friends in Logan,'' Romney said, noting his business ties to Logan as a one-time investor in a local fitness company.

Romney spoke for about 10 minutes, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the military, economy and families.

Romney didn't discuss his membership in the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the Logan lunch. Romney's faith has been attacked by radio talk show host the Rev. Al Sharpton and questioned by some staffers affiliated with the campaigns of GOP rival Sam Brownback and John McCain.

In all, Romney's swing through Utah was expected to raise more than $500,000. About 250 supporters were to have paid $500 each to attend a reception at a downtown Salt Lake sports arena. About 100 of Romney's biggest Utah backers were also expected to attend a gathering at the candidate's Deer Valley home Saturday night.
