Under its current policy, the Salt Lake County jail books and releases anyone arrested for a misdemeanor with three exceptions - protective order violations, domestic assaults or DUIs. Examples of other misdemeanors include:
* CLASS A MISDEMEANORS
Child abuse
Negligent homicide
Simple assault
Stalking
Reckless endangerment
Trespassing
Theft
Criminal mischief
Possession of marijuana
* CLASS B MISDEMEANORS
Child abuse
Simple assault
Contributing to delinquency of child
Harassment
Interruption of communication
Theft
Attempted burglary
Possession of drug paraphernalia
