It appears Rocky will not press charges after being bellied around City Hall last week by bellicose - and bountiful - developer Dell Loy Hansen.
This despite some unlikely support from Republican Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, who told KSL Thursday he would be willing to back a prosecution should Salt Lake City cops determine Hansen violated an assault-on-an-elected-official statute during the hallway skirmish.
The near-fisticuffs bring to mind another recent rumble - Rocky's smackdown with Sean Hannity - and illustrates a trend: Salt Lake's maverick mayor keeps taking on bigger guys.
On the Kingsbury Hall stage with Hannity, Rocky easily gave up a few pounds to the Crown Burger-loving conservative.
But with Hansen, the mayor sacrificed at least 4 inches and 75 pounds. And, it turns out, one leg.
Just before being stalked in the hallway, Rocky had knee surgery and was hobbling noticeably. Given the mayor's "I'll kick your ass!" declaration, it sort of gives a new meaning to the term "weak-kneed liberal."
Wilson hops aboard sky bridge
Saying it is "critical to the entire development project," Salt Lake City mayoral hopeful Jenny Wilson has announced her support for City Creek Center's planned skywalk on Main Street.
"I have talked to both proponents and opponents of the bridge," she wrote on her campaign blog. "I have received in-depth briefing from Taubman, the developer of the project and I have looked closely at cities with pedestrian bridges. The pedestrian bridge is needed."
Wilson, an at-large member of the Salt Lake County Council, goes on to call the LDS Church-funded mall makeover "the largest 'green' development ever built in Salt Lake City."
Despite protests and a veto from Mayor Rocky Anderson - he still is shopping the Main Street air rights to prevent a sky bridge - the City Council approved the project with a 6-1 vote.
Muscheck's
mayoral platform
It's official: Robert Muscheck, who brings to the race a court injunction banning him from city schools, is running for Salt Lake City mayor.
Following, in no particular order, is Muscheck's agenda:
* Deputize city cops with federal immigration enforcement
* Mandatory recycling
* Provide showers on wheels to bathe the homeless
* Build a solar-power plant on the west side
* Allow bicycles on sidewalks
* Eliminate sub-contracting
* Promote a living wage
Muscheck dismisses the court order as punishment for promoting a political agenda - "I told the kids to sit down and eat their vegetables," he says - and concedes he is an "unknown" long shot. But he offered the following warning:
"The only reason I'm running is to let them know I'm out here and if I don't make it, to let them know I'm still watching them."
Debate, anyone?
