Provo's director of community and government affairs is stepping down.

Raylene Ireland will leave July 2 to pursue a different line of work.

"I've been in government for 21 years, and it's something I've loved," Ireland said. "But it's time to move on. I'm ready for a change."

Her community- and government-affairs position will be split in two. Provo will hire a deputy mayor and a full-time communications and public-relations position.

Ireland said she has enjoyed her time with Provo.

"I love the city," she said. "Everyone has been very gracious, and it's been a positive experience all around."
