The U.S. Forest Service plans its last open house for now on the 82 stream segments in Utah that the agency is studying for a Wild and Scenic River designation. The meeting focused on the first round of public comments will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Library, 210 E. 400 South. People who attend can ask questions and provide comments about the areas that appear to be eligible for Wild and Scenic river designation. For the next 18 months, the Forest Service and its state counterparts will do a more in-depth review of potentially eligible river segments. To be added to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system, a river must go through an extensive review, be recommended for designation and, finally, to win congressional approval.
