Maj. Gen. Kevin Sullivan, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, has been nominated for a lieutenant general position in Washington, D.C., Sen. Bob Bennett's office said Tuesday.

If confirmed, Sullivan will become deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Air Force's Installations, Logistics, and Mission Support Headquarters, Bennett's office said.

"I would like to congratulate General Sullivan on his pending promotion to lieutenant general and new assignment as deputy chief of staff at Air Force Installations, Logistics, and Mission Support Headquarters," Bennett said in a statement.

"Hill will lose a powerful leader, but the United States Air Force will continue to benefit from his capable service. I look forward to working with him in his new capacity."

Sullivan has been the commander of the Air Logistics Center, Hill's largest tenant unit and Utah's largest employer with 23,500 employees, since July 2003.

No announcement has been made on who will replace Sullivan at Hill.
