Posted: 11:49 AM- Syracuse police are searching for a 22-year-old man in the alleged weekend rape of an 11-year-old girl.

Police were called to the girl's Syracuse home about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Tracy Jensen. The girl was interviewed and several items in the home led police to believe she had been attacked.

Jensen says today that authorities are seeking Benito Martinez, an undocumented immigrant, for questioning. Martinez, known to the girl's family, had been living in her home.

Martinez left the home after the alleged attack and hasn't been seen since, Jensen said. He is described as a Latino, about 5-foot-8, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
