Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. kicked off his final-day signing flurry Tuesday at Kearns' Beehive Elementary School.

He signed six public education bills, including one expanding optional all-day kindergarten programs for at-risk children. The program has been a Huntsman priority for the past two years.

The governor also signed legislation giving a $2,500 raise to all Utah teachers and a one-time bonus for most school employees. The other bills addressed high school concurrent enrollment programs, appropriations for the State Office of Education and local school board members, and funding for the K-3 reading improvement program.
