Don't bury the Utah State Fairpark just yet. Though he concedes that it is a "second option," Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has resurrected the idea - again - of building a Major League Soccer stadium at the fairpark with an $8 million front from the capital. "Everybody's agreed this is a very viable option," Anderson said, pointing to both state leaders and Real Salt Lake executives. "We fully expect to have support from the council." A resolution on Tuesday's City Council agenda calls for the city to loan Real Salt Lake $8 million - $5 million would be returned in promotions - for agreements to build a stadium at the fairpark and a soccer academy in Salt Lake City. Anderson says the state could agree to a 50-year lease for the land - if the deal to build a stadium in Sandy falls through. - Derek P. Jensen
