Davis County commissioners this week said Barry Burton can seek site-plan and conditional-use approvals from the Layton Planning Commission to expand the Davis Conference Center.
Burton, the county's assistant community and economic-development director, said the $10 million expansion will double the size of the $12 million center, which opened 2 1/2 years ago.
The 25,000-square-foot addition includes a 17,000-square-foot exhibit hall with five connecting meeting rooms.
The Layton Planning Commission will discuss the project Feb. 13. If all goes well, Burton hopes construction can begin this March and finish in early 2008.
