LOGAN - New blood is flowing through the statewide historic preservation organization. Logan City Council chairman and small-business owner Stephen C. Thompson was named executive director of the Utah Heritage Foundation on Monday.

Thompson, who has served on the Logan City Council for 11 years and will continue to serve out his 2010 term, has actively supported Cache Valley historic projects such as the restoration of the Cache County Courthouse and the enhancement of Logan's Historic District. Thompson said he welcomes the opportunity to share his passion for historic preservation through his new job with the Utah Heritage Foundation.

“We are a statewide organization. My goal, and my charge from the board of directors, is to reach out statewide and really develop and continue to enhance our programs on a state level,” Thompson said. “We want the individual cities and towns to know that we exist and we are a resource for them.”
