Tear gas ends police standoff Monday

Posted: 9:05 AM- A standoff between three men inside a Salt Lake City home and police ended peacefully Monday morning after tear gas was deployed.

Officers were responding to an unreleated call around 2:30 a.m. when they heard a shot fired and saw a car speed away from 360 S. Emery St., said Salt Lake City Police spokesman Joe Cyr.

When officers stopped the car, they found out it was stolen, Cyr said. Police then asked those inside the home to come outside, and all but three men complied.

Eventually, a SWAT team was called to the scene and tear gas thrown inside the home, Cyr said. The three men then came out around 8 a.m., and are now being quesitoned by police, he said.
