A local union is sponsoring what it calls a "stirring the pot" event where women can discuss strategies to encourage more women to vote. Interested women can participate at 6:30 p.m. today at the Communications Workers of America Union Hall at 1743 W. North Temple. The ALF-CIO is organizing events nationally. Susan Mcallister, a Qwest employee who is an officer in the local Communication Workers union, said she is hosting the event because "like most women, I'm concerned about health care and education in Utah." She said the event is not partisan. It will include a discussion of issues and a strategy session to get more women to vote.
