OGDEN - A retired school teacher, Susan Van Hooser, was selected Wednesday from among five finalists to replace Bill Glasmann on the Ogden City Council. Van Hooser was sworn in after the council's unanimous vote.
I like her ideas on problem-solving and consensus building, said Council Chairman Jesse Garcia. She's a good communicator.
Van Hooser and the four other finalists, who were chosen last week from among nearly 40 applicants, answered questions from the council for about 15 minutes each. Council members then considered their choices in a closed meeting for about 45 minutes, Garcia said.
Glasmann resigned earlier this month to take a job with Ogden City in the community and economic development department. He had been elected last November.
Van Hooser will serve until after the next municipal election in November 2007.
