Utah companies that manage radioactive waste, manufacture sprinkler parts and mold bomb-proof suitcases will join a state-sponsored trade mission to China Oct. 16-20. Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will lead a delegation of leaders from two dozen businesses and universities next month in an effort to extend the state's educational, economic development and tourism reach into China. Along with Tahitian Noni and Zion's Bank, EnergySolutions executives will travel to Asia with the governor. They will meet with business and government leaders in Beijing and Shanghai. "The long-term opportunities for Utah companies in China are extraordinary," said Brett Heimburger, Governor's Office of Economic Development Asia director, in a press release. "Gaining access to the Chinese market does not happen overnight. It's a long process and relationships are key. This trip will allow Utah companies access to relationships that would be difficult for them to forge otherwise." Companies pay their way.
