West Jordan police were investigating the shooting Thursday night of a fast food restaurant employee.

The shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. at a Taco Time near 9100 South and 2700 West.

Sgt. Drew Sanders said employees of the restaurant heard knocking on a back door. When they opened the door, someone outside fired one or two gunshots. A female employee was hit in the chest.

The woman, who was in critical condition, was taken by helicopter to a hospital, Sanders said. No other employees or customers were hurt.

Police were looking for one or two people including a Latino male seen wearing dark clothes, a beanie cap and a bandana over his face.

The assailants did not try to enter the restaurant, Sanders said. Police did not know of a motive for the shooting.
