Salt Lake City emergency medical personnel rushed to the aid of a man who fell into a manhole Tuesday morning.
The 35-year-old University of Utah employee had just finished some work on a fiber-optic cable and was climbing out when he slipped from his ladder about 9:40 a.m. Crews brought him out about 10:20 a.m., said Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Mark Bednarik.
Two firefighters put the man into a hoist and lifted him out of the hole, located near the Eccles Broadcast Building, about 100 South and Wasatch Drive (2530 East).
The man escaped with an ankle injury, Bednarik said.
