Two suspects are accused of breaking into a South Salt Lake apartment, beating the occupants and stealing their personal belongings, including rosary beads.

Three men were inside the apartment, near 600 West and Fine Drive (3715 South), when they heard banging on the door and saw a man standing on the balcony holding a gun, police wrote in charges filed Monday.

The three men locked themselves in the bathroom, but an intruder allegedly kicked in the door. Two of the men were punched, one to unconsciousness. The two intruders took a cell phone, money and rosary beads from the two remaining victims, police wrote.

One of the men tried to escape, but the suspects grabbed him from behind and beat him, police wrote.

The accused robbers are a West Jordan man, 19, and a West Valley City man, 27. Both face two counts of first-degree felony aggravated robbery. The West Valley City man also is charged with possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony.
