The House voted unanimously Friday for a bill to give Utah an additional nickname: "Birthplace of the Statue of Responsibility."

First proposed forty years ago by Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl, the Statue of Responsibility is a 300-foot statue to be built on the West Coast as a counterpart to the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast.

According to Rep. Mike Morley, R-Spanish Fork, the sponsor of the resolution, Utah deserves to be recognized for its role in creating the statue: Utah native Gary Lee Price is the author of the design, and Daniel Bolz, the president of the Statue of Responsibility Foundation, lives in Utah.

Eventually, the statue is expected to be built in one of four possible West Coast locations; Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, or Seattle. Utah would get a 30-foot replica.
