A one-vehicle accident blocked both northbound lanes of Interstate 15 for more than an hour late Thursday morning in Iron County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

UHP spokesman Cameron Roden said a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck went out of control near the New Harmony/Kannarville interchange at 9:12 a.m. careened into the median and rolled into the northbound lanes, pinning its 17-year-old female driver inside.

Rescuers removed the woman, who suffered a broken ankle and numerous cuts and bruises, and took her to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. She was initially reported to be in fair condition.

Normal traffic flow resumed through the accident scene by 11 a.m.

Investigation into the cause of the crash continued, but Roden said it appeared high speed was a factor.
