A Canadian woman died Thursday after a minivan struck her on Interstate 15 near Willard Bay.
Patricia Prokopetz, 61, of Hinton, Alberta, and her husband had pulled over by the side of northbound I-15 to attend to a diabetic problem with her husband, said Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol.
While they were parked, the woman decided she would take a photo of Willard Bay. Prokopetz took a camera and ran across the northbound lanes of I-15 and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes when a minivan in the fast lane struck her. She was airlifted to an area hospital, where she died. No one in the minivan was injured.
Lanes were closed to make room for the helicopter.
