A former employee of OptumHealth Bank has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for embezzling from the company, which administers health savings accounts.

Andrew Earl Hayford, 29, a systems administrator, admitted he transferred money from the Salt Lake City company to bank accounts he controlled. The embezzlement was done in numerous transactions from December 2006 to July 2008, he said.

The sentence was imposed Monday by U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups, who also ordered Hayford to pay $160,172 in restitution.
