Friends and family of Susan Powell will observe the two-month anniversary of her disappearance in the same manner they've spent preceding days: encouraging people to keep looking for the 28-year-old West Valley City mother.

Powell's best friend, Kiirsi Hellewell, is working to highlight the case of her missing friend by organizing a "Week of Service" from Feb. 8 through Feb. 15.

The "Week of Service" will be targeted at the arts and crafts community because Susan Powell loved to crochet and was known for giving homemade baby blankets and hats to friends, Hellewell said. Donations will be given to domestic violence shelters or other organizations the help women and children, she said.

A kickoff party is planned Monday at 7 p.m. at the Hunter Library, 4740 W. 4100 South in West Valley City. Those who attend are asked to bring a craft project to work on. More information is available at http://heartsknitforsusan.wordpress.com.

Susan Powell was last seen Dec. 6 and was reported missing Dec. 7.

Police have said Joshua Powell told them he took their two sons, now ages 3 and 5, camping at 12:30 a.m. the day Susan Powell disappeared, leaving his wife at the family's West Valley City home. Joshua Powell, 34, whom police have called a person of interest in the disappearance, has since moved to his hometown of Puyallup, Wash., with the boys.

He recently returned to Utah, where he is fixing up his home for potential renters.

Joshua Powell has repeatedly declined interview requests from The Salt Lake Tribune .
