Ogden police are looking for two men who kicked in the back door of an apartment early Thursday and stole equipment from a computer repairman at gunpoint.
Lt. Scott Sangberg said that about 6 a.m., the victim heard the door being broken open. As he reached for his cell phone to call police, he was blinded by a flashlight, making it difficult for him to see the intruders.
However, he said he clearly saw the handgun being pointed at him.
The home invaders ordered him to lie on the floor while they scooped up a laptop, a monitor screen and other assorted electronics in his home computer-repair business office. The robbers also took the man's cell phone.
As they left, they threatened to kill the victim if he called police. The victim waited until he was sure the two were gone, and then used another phone to notify authorities.
Investigators are looking into whether the victim's online advertising may have made him a target for thieves.
The stolen computer gear -- but not his cell phone -- was later found on a street corner a short distance away. Police speculated something or someone may have surprised the robbers as they made their getaway.
