A crash involving a car and a semi tractor trailer rig closed down the three right lanes of Interstate 15 northbound at 11600 South near Draper on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. when a woman driving the car attempted to pass the rig, which was hauling an oversized load. Her car clipped the truck and rolled.

Rescue crews had to extricate the woman, who was pinned inside her car. She was taken to a hospital in serious condition, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said.

The woman's age, name and hometown were not released.

The crash remains under investigation.
