A 61-year-old Lake Point woman was without a home Tuesday after flames gutted her house overnight.

Tooele County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Morgan said the woman and her dog escaped the blaze, but the 12:30 a.m. fire destroyed their home near 8200 North and Mountain View Drive.

The loss is estimated to be at least $80,000.

The fire's cause was under investigation, but Morgan said the county fire marshal's office is looking into whether the fire was caused by a candle left burning on a bathroom windowsill.
