Men living in an Orem house stabbed the bandit who tried to rob them Sunday morning, police said.

An ambulance drove the suspect to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He is expected to survive, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

The robbery began about 7:15 a.m. near 800 W. and 400 South. Four men in their early and mid-20s live in the house, Martinez said.

The robber stole some electronics from the house and put them in his car, then went into one of the bedrooms, Martinez said, and awoke one of the men. A fight began. The other men in the house heard the struggle and ran to it.

Somewhere in the melee, the robber received stab wounds to his chest, back and head, Martinez said. One of the victims also received a minor stab wound.

Martinez said police are not considering any criminal charges against the men living in the house.
