Roy police have arrested two suspects in the slayings of a woman and her adult son. The victims' bodies had been found hidden in their mobile home on Monday.
Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said Tuesday that the suspects were acquaintances of the victims, who were identified as Pamela Knight Jefferies, 56, and her son Matthew Roddy, 30.
However, Whinham declined to release other details in the investigation, including the identities of the suspects or the causes of death for the victims.
He would only say the suspects were in custody awaiting "official criminal charges related to the deaths of Ms. Jefferies and her son Mr. Roddy. . . . Their names will be released when charges are filed [but] the investigation is ongoing and will take several days to complete."
Neighbors called police Wednesday after spotting the household cats wandering outside of the victims' mobile home at Karol's Mobile Home park near 3860 S. Midland.
Police had spoken to the victims just that morning, when they called to report prescription medications were taken from their house, Whinham said.
Officers went to the mobile home after receiving the neighbors' call later in the day, but the family car was not in the driveway and no one answered the door.
Neighbors again called police Saturday to report the two had not appeared at home.
Police requested a warrant to search the house Monday after finding the car in Davis County.
Officers found their bodies inside the home in a spot that was not visible in an initial security sweep, Whinham said. He would not discuss the bodies' location in the house or whether there were signs of trauma or a break-in.
It is not clear whether there is a connection between the slayings and the drug theft.
