A woman fell to her death while hiking Friday in Zion National Park, police said.

Tammy Grunig, 50, who lives in Pocatello, Idaho, and St. George, was on Angels Landing when she fell, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

She fell about 1,000 feet from the north side of the extremely narrow trail. Washington County deputies and National Park Rangers are investigating how she fell. Other hikers saw her fall and called police about 2 p.m. Friday.

This is the second death on Angel's Landing this year. In August, a 55-year-old California woman died after stumbling and falling on the extremely narrow hiking path.

The Angels Landing trail was closed for a short time Friday as investigators recovered Grunig's body. She was found and recovered by 6:30 p.m.

Angels Landing is located in the southern part of the park, about 50 miles from St. George.
