Police arrested two drive-by purse snatchers minutes after a theft from a woman in a Costco parking lot Friday afternoon.

The woman, who is in her mid-30s, was unloading her groceries in the parking lot at 11100 S. Auto Mall Drive when a car drove by about 1:25 p.m., said Sandy police Sgt. Justin Chapman. A woman reached out the window and grabbed the purse from her grocery cart, then drove away.

She called police and described the car. Officers pulled over a Pontiac Bonneville near 8840 South and 40 East at 1:33 p.m. They arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man on suspicion of theft.
