An Ogden police officer charged with drunken driving after he fell asleep and hit two power poles earlier this year has pleaded guilty to reckless driving and was ordered to pay a $595 fine.
Officer Jared Ingalsbe, 28, was initially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a class B misdemeanor.
He pleaded guilty Wednesday to reckless driving, which is also a class B misdemeanor.
Harrisville Justice Court Judge James Beesley sentenced him to 45 days in jail, which was suspended. The judge gave Ingalsbe two months to pay the fine.
Ogden Police Chief Jon Greiner was not immediately available to comment about Ingalsbe's status as a police officer. Ingalsbe had been placed on administrative leave with pay.
Ingalsbe was arrested June 30, after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and hit two power poles near 1400 North and Washington Boulevard in Harrisville, according to a police report. Flying debris damaged four passing cars and a nearby house.
The crash caused about $13,000 in damage to the power poles, house, phone lines and cars.
Ingalsbe -- who was off duty at the time -- was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital with lacerations and a possible concussion. A blood test found alcohol and Zolpidem, a sleeping medication, in his system.
Another Ogden officer, Detective Robert Buck, 34, was arrested Aug. 30, after a Harrisville officer saw him speeding and drifting over the striped line several times
When asked by an officer, he admitted "he had too many to be driving," the report states. He was later found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.122, above the legal limit of 0.08.
Buck, who was charged with class B misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is set for trial Jan. 7 before Judge Beesely.
