A fire that destroyed a Beaver Dam home Tuesday may have been caused by a faulty propane heater, a fire marshal said.
No one was home when the fire broke out near 15000 North and 400 West, said Box Elder County Fire Marshal Greg Martz.
"We think it was probably malfunctioning," Martz said. "That's what we're leaning towards, but it hasn't been 100 percent proven."
Fighting the fire was complicated by the fact that there are no fire hydrants in Beaver Dam, so water was hauled to the site.
"It was hard to keep water on the fire at all times," Martz said.
