Law enforcement officers in Washington County on Sunday arrested a hunting party suspected of poaching deer.

Deer season has ended in southern Utah, and state wildlife officers received a tip about a hunting camp north of St. George, said Washington County sheriff's Detective Nate Abbott. The wildlife officers and sheriff's deputies arrested five men from the camp. Abbott said they also found six deer carcasses in various states of butchering and a rabbit.

One man is from St. George. Two are from California, and the other two are from Las Vegas. They were booked into the county jail on suspicion of poaching or wildlife destruction.
