A 9-year-old girl escaped serious injury despite being stabbed in the neck by a metal shishkebab skewer her brother launched from a sling shot today in Taylorsville.
The brother was playing with the slingshot about noon when he launched the skewer at a home near 3100 West and Don Salvador Avenue (6170 South), said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Smith. It caught the girl in the soft tissue around her neck.
"Luckily for her, it missed everything vital," Smith said. Responders examined the girl at the home; she was not taken to a hospital.
Smith did not know the brother's age.
