Police on Friday captured a man suspected of entering Layton High School last week and twice exposing himself to a 17-year-old girl.
Layton police publicized security video footage of a man lurking in the school's hallways Oct. 28. When the man encountered a girl mopping floors, he dropped his pants, exposing himself to her, said police Lt. Quinn Moyes. The man ran, but stopped and again exposed himself to her.
The video footage triggered several tips to authorities, allowing investigators to identify the man as 23-year-old Cody Moon, according to a press release from the Police Department.
Moon wasn't at his home when officers visited, but he was found hiding in a nearby field and arrested, police say.
Moon was booked on suspicion of lewdness, trespassing and interfering with a school.
Davis County District officials are at a loss to explain how the man entered the school unnoticed.
All schools require visitors to check in at the front office. There's a resource officer posted at every high school and teachers and students are encouraged to report anything suspicious, said district spokesman Christopher Williams.
"If someone wants to get into a school, they're going to get into a school, unfortunately," said Williams. "We don't have a guard at every entry point."
