A 3-year-old boy critically injured in a hit-and-run on Halloween night in Orem has been released from the hospital.

Police haven't found the driver, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

The child was hit in a parking lot at 1340 N. 1200 West, after he got out of a car with his parents to go trick-or-treating with family.

The driver of a dark-colored pickup truck or SUV stopped briefly about a half-block away, then drove away, Martinez said. Accident investigators are looking into one anonymous tip, but have no other leads on the driver, he said.

The Cedar City boy suffered a broken jaw, broken leg, cuts and bruises. He was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition and released Wednesday. The child is staying with family in the Salt Lake City area for follow-up doctor appointments, Martinez said.

"It looks like he's going to be OK," he said. Anyone with information about the driver can call Orem police at 801-229-7070.
