Police on Wednesday asked for the public's help to find a man who entered Layton High School last week and twice exposed himself to a 17-year-old girl.

Layton police Lt. Quinn Moyes said security cameras first captured the man inside the school at noon last Wednesday, but don't show how he initially entered the building. The footage then shows him at various locations inside the building until 6 p.m., when he tries to enter the locked girls locker room.

When the man is unsuccessful, he walks to the upper level of the school, where he encounters a girl mopping the floor as part of her janitorial job, Moyes said. There, he drops his pants and exposes himself before running away briefly, then exposing himself to her again.

Afterward, the man ducks into a classroom and appears to hide, Moyes said. The man then walks back out to the school parking lot, gets into a silver four-door passenger car and drives away.

Davis County District officials are at a loss to explain how the man entered the school unnoticed.

All schools require visitors to check in at the front office. There's a resource officer posted at every high school and teachers and students are encouraged to report anything suspicious, said Williams.

"If someone wants to get into a school, they're going to get into a school, unfortunately," said district spokesman Christopher Williams. "We don't have a guard at every entry point."

retrieve a license plate from the footage, Moyes said. The man is described as white, in his 20s, six feet tall, 170 pounds with blonde or light brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue T-shirt with a design on it, a dark jacket and sunglasses on top of his head.

Night classes were taking place at the school during the incident, Moyes said. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Layton police at 801-497-8300.

"We haven't had any other problems like this with lewdness," Moyes said.
