A pizza deliverer has appeared in court on charges that he tried to bribe a police officer with a pepperoni pizza when he was ticketed for speeding in Sandy.
The man, 53, was stopped in June for speeding in a construction zone near 2300 East and Little Cottonwood Road, police wrote in charges. The man allegedly told the officer, "I'll trade you a large pepperoni pizza for a break on the ticket."
When the officer issued a citation, the man said, "You were pretty quick to call me on my bribe," police wrote.
The pizza is worth $12.93, police wrote.
The man was charged with bribery to influence official or political actions, a third-degree felony amended to a misdemeanor, and misdemeanor speeding.
