Power has been restored to 2,000 customers who were part of a scattered blackout Wednesday morning in Salt Lake City.

Rocky Mountain Power crews were putting in new wire about 9:15 a.m. near the University of Utah when the installation equipment failed, dropping the wire onto another power line and downing it, said company spokesman Jeff Hymas.

The outage affected customers between 1000 East and 1400 East and South Temple and 1800 South.

Repairs were completed at 11:30 a.m.
